The Dundalk year as it will be known. They only played a handful of games in Dundalk but it stired fan controversary and marked the first time the Giants played competitive games away from an operating Odyssey arena. The reasons behind it were understood but it still didn’t sit well with some fans. The year will also be remembered as one of the most up and down in the history of the team. Some suspect off-season signings lead to a terrible start to the season that seen them lose 8 of 11 and sit bottom of the league by October. Mid-season player changes steadied the ship as the team won a record 16 in-a-row and climbed right to the top of the table. By the time things settled out though the Giants had to be content with a 4th place finish, their worst since 03-04, and no place in the final-four weekend in Nottingham. Diaspointing in all and it brought an end to the three year tenure of Ed Courtenay as coach which all-in-all was a successful one.

The season also marked my last as a full-time attendee of games as I moved to live in Canada in the off-season. With the team set for big changes in the summer it wouldn’t be the same again for me but I knew I’d continue to support from a far.
