2004/05

Schedule | Statistics | Standings

2004-2005 was kind of a new era in some respects for the Giants.  It was the first time since their formation year that they had a brand new coach come in from outside the organisation and he brought in a lot of new faces and a new style of play to the team.  New coach Tony Hand was hired seconds after Rob Stewart was fired and he set about improving the Giants fortunes.  Britain’s greatest ever player played as well as coached the Giants and lead the way in the scoring categories.  It was the first time the Giants had signed mainland European players to their team with the arrival of Roman Gavalier and Martin Klempa and it was the first year they played with a new tough guy in place of Paxton Schulte.  On the ice though the Giant found their form again registering 31 wins throughout the season.  It wasn’t enough though to bring home a major trophy as Coventry took the grand-slam leaving the Giants to second in the league and to go through another playoff disappointment.
