The first season was enough of a success that it encouraged a strong core of season one’s team back for another term. It also included Coach Dave Whistle who had put together the group to begin with. After a successful finish to their first season the Giants looked to build on it from the get go. Things looked bad at first losing 9-3 to London but things were quickly turned around as the Giants won game after game with outstanding performances from new boys Jason Ruff and Sean Berens alongside Kevin Riehl. By 8th February it was all over and the Giants had won their first league title in just their 2nd year, in dominant fashion. Of course the problem with the early win meant taking it easy and by the time the playoffs came around the Giants couldn’t lift themselves. The downturn in form also coincided with the Challenge Cup Final between the Giants and Ayr which was live on BBC TV. The Giants were hammered in the shock of the season 5-0 by the Scottish side. Although that put a dampener on the seasons end the team that had graced the ice for the previous seven months was regarded by many as one of the Giants greatest teams.
