Rob Stewart is the iron man of Giants hockey. Until he became player coach in 2003 Rob Stewart had never missed a Giants game and on top of that had never missed a game in the history of the ISL before it became the EIHL. Rob was a rock in defence and had a huge slapshot going forward. His role in coaching the team was not successful and he only lasted a season but to say his job was an uphill battle from the start is an understatement. Rob however remained a real professional and stepped back in to help an injury depleted Giants defence in the 05-06 season were a temporary role soon became a contract for the year.
After leaving the Giants for the final time Rob Stewart retired from hockey and continues to live in Northern Ireland attending many Giants games. For the 2008/09 season Rob Stewart returned to the Giants as an assistant coach to head coach Steve Thornton.
