Today’s game against the Nottingham Panthers was no ordinary league game. Well it was, but there was an extra to it for the Belfast Giants — today’s game was the 500th in the history of the club — and although a 1000th game will really be cause for celebration, I didn’t want to wait until some time in 2017 to write about it. Forget about the pathetic score, this is a moment many people never thought they would see. Read More»

On the 6th December the Giants will be in Sheffield for a league game against the Steelers. Mark it in your diaries folks as that game will be the 500th game in the history of the Belfast Giants. All-time games does not include void games from 2002-2003 and 2005-2006 nor exhibition games the club have played. It will be a historic moment for a team in their 9th season of play, for a team that many sceptics felt wouldn’t ever play 100 games never mind 500.
On another historic moment the team have registered a total of 9877 penalty minutes all-time. Just 123 more needed to hit the 10,000 plateau. That could happen tomorrow night if the game turns nasty when the Giants host Coventry in the Odyssey.
I will have much more on these achievements in the coming days and weeks.
