I said a few days ago about this piece of wonderful history being on the horizon and how if we could limit big George to just four points over two games we might have a shot at seeing the record broke in the Odyssey this weekend. It wasn’t to be though as George scored a goal and four assists for five points to tie and then break Jason Ruffs franshise record for individual points all-time. Congratulations George Awada.

This was the weekend people said that we would really see what the Giants are made of. Until now the Giants had been playing against teams in the bottom half of the league and had yet to be really tested. This past weekend with a cup game against Manchester and a league game against defending league champions Coventry Blaze would certainly show us all how good this so far one-game-shy-of-being-perfect Giants team is.

There is a debate on going on the Kingdom of the Giants website right now following an article on their front page on whether the Giants are cursed or not by the Black Jersey. That story gives the background to the jersey but it all harks back to the 5-0 thashing the Giants took at the hands of the Ayr Scottish Eagles in the 2002 Challenge Cup Final. The Giants had been invincible all season until that fateful day having been leading the Super League since way back on 18th October.
