So as it turns out the Giants will only have played one season in their history without a Johnson on defence.  Nope it’s not Shane’s return but a new signing for the Giants blue-line and a newcomer to the Elite League, Trevor Johnson.  Signing for the Giants out of Italy from Bruneck SG he’s previously played his entire career in the North American minor leagues.  A gritty defenceman who seems to be more in the mould of last season’s J.P. The Giants today announced that defenceman turned forward Leigh Jamieson has signed on with the team for what will be his fifth season.  Just over a month shy of his 22nd birthday, Jamieson is already the most experienced player on the current team and seventh all-time with 229 games.  It’s vital experience for such a young man who will only get better and better over the coming seasons.  MORE »

So it’s been a busy week or so in the Belfast Giants, at least for the typical June it has.  We’re not used to player signings this early in the season yet they have been coming pretty fast so far.  Theres even the shape of a good team already in place and you can see Ed Courtenay building his core.  On top of some of the re-signings there have been some familuar faces moving on to pastures new while there has been a few new faces addded with the latest of them being tough guy Carlyle Lewis.  MORE »

Philippe DeRouville who came in late last year to replace the injured Mike Minard has signed on for a full season for this years Belfast Giants.  His late season form that he carried into the playoffs helping the Giants to the playoff semi-finals impressed not only the fans but the Giants managment as well it seems.

Giants are already on their way to building a good core of last years team to make a run at a championship this year.
