It’s the result that counts
Game Blogs 2008/09 | Thursday 19 February 2009 by Richard BlayneyBy all accounts last nights game between Belfast and Manchester was far from a classic. The atmosphere was flat and neither teams were playing the way they can when the passes are on the tape and the shots are really making the goalies work, but the Giants were leading the contest when the final hooter blew and that is all that matters.
You could say a good fight might have livened up the crowd but I wont — the can of worms that might open wouldn’t be worth it.
Oh wait.
Em, nevermind. Anyway, there wasn’t a fight and reports suggest Rushton and Cloutier didn’t even come close to mixing it up.
The win keeps the Giants in second but still quite a stretch behind the Steelers. It is Sheffield’s title to lose now and the best the Giants can do is keep winning, hope for a collase and if not keep their attention on the challenge cup, knockout cup and later the playoffs.
