Giants blow lead but take it in the shootout
Game Blogs 2008/09 | Saturday 14 February 2009 by Richard BlayneyI promised you goals in the preview and the game didn’t let you down. Eight goals in all tonight and one more in a low scoring shootout to decide things between the two teams after finishing up 4-4 through regulation and overtime. The Giants who at one point lead 4-1 blew a lead through the second period as the Panthers clawed their way back. A rare 6 on 3 in the final minutes of play allowed them to tie it up and send it to overtime.
In my preview I also remember writing that the Giants had to come away with the two points tonight but not let the Panthers get anything. Having been trailing by three goals at one point, Nottingham will be delighted to take a single point back home with them.
Jason Rushton was busy again tonight with his fights, dropping the mitts with Bergin twice in the game.
The Giants will rest up tomorrow and travel across the water for a game at 7 p.m. against Coventry Blaze, a team the Giants have played well against so far this season.
That is all for now. I’ll be back with updates to the site and more ramblings over the weekend.
