Giants looking for pride in Sheffield

March 15th, 2008

After two defeats in a row the Giants are looking to get back on track in time for the playoffs starting tonight against second place league finishers Sheffield. With Dave Matsos behind the bench for Sheffield - the man the Giants are aparantely targeting for their new coach next season it’ll be a great chance for the Giants players to put themselves in the shop window for Matsos should he end up in Belfast. If anything else it’ll be just good to see the Giants try to find some form.

Updates:

1 Period Down: So things aren’t going so hot and the Giants look to continue to struggle. Two goals by Sheffield from Legue and Talbot have put the slumping Giants behind the 8-ball. The scary thing is I’m not at all confident they will go out of their way to try get something out of the game. Have the team given up?

2 Periods Down: The Giants have shut out the Steelers through the last 20-minutes. Unfortunately they were shutout also. It’s not often the Giants get shutout through 60-minutes. The Steelers are looking to do just that.

End of the Game: Well the goodnews is we avoided the shutout. The bad news is we lost the game. A Giants goal with eight minutes left by Cameron from Awada and Lewis seen off the shutout. And so the Giants poor form continues as the playoffs come ever closer. Thats all I could be bothered to write. At least the F1 season is underway!
