Don’t expect a thriller
January 30th, 2008That title is the vibes I got from reading what the Blaze coach had to say about the game tomorrow night. By all accounts the only way to beat the Giants is to choke the life out of the game. Sit back and defend, put five men behind the puck and try steal a goal or two. Opening up and going toe-to-toe with the Giants is impossible. These are not my words, but the thoughts of the Hull Stingrays coach Rick Strachan.
Here’s hoping his players get to tempted to play some open hockey once the first period or two passes and the fans are beginning to get seriously restless. There’s nothing worse than a restless crowd in Belfast and Mr. Strachan should be concious of it! Regardless of all that he has to say the Giants still have a job to do and must be professional about it. Ed Courtenay knows this and said as much today.
Should the Giants win this snooze fest they will go to the top of the league and boring game or not that would delight me no end. Of course the Blaze would sit with four games in hand but it could give the Giants a very important edge going into Saturday nights top of the table clash with the Blaze. Should and I say it again - Should the Giants win that game they could be three points clear with seventeen wins on the trot and a Blaze team needing to win their games in hand.
It’s still a long way to go however but two points tomorrow night would be a good start.
