And it’s back down south we go . . .

January 26th, 2008

. . . Looking for fourteen in a row.

Who knew I could rhyme? For the third time this season we’re heading over the border in the free-Republic to check out the Giants ‘home’ game with Edinburgh. I always enjoy these little jaunts down to Dundalk actually after being a little unsure at the start. The rink is small, it’s cold like a hockey rink should be, and the staff are extremely plesant. The atmosphere the Giants fans bring to this ‘home’ game resembles an away trip and so everyones a winner. You’d nearly fear that the team could eventually move down there on a perminant basis but the rink only holds 1600 and the Giants are still pulling in over double that to games at the Odyssey.

I’ve also come to really enjoy the games against Edinburgh this season. In previous years they were the whipping boys with absolutely no muscle to back up the beatings they were getting served up. They are still the whipping boys but at least now have that muscle and wont let you push them around. There have been quite a few scraps between the two teams this season with even Morrison and Moran getting in on the act. Look however for Lewis and Stefishen to drop ‘em - they almost always seem to.

As for the game side of things though, the Giants will look to press on with their winning form and pick up a 14th win in a row but although for the majority of the season the Capitals have been the whipping boys they arn’t to be taken lightly.

So as I wrap up this little piece I’ll get ready, get some food and shortly make the trek down south to Dundalk to file into the ‘find your own seat’ packed little arena and make some serious noise. Here’s to coming back home with a win.
