Summer Update - NEW SIGNINGS

July 29th, 2004

Tony Hand has been busy over the last few weeks in building the Giants squad with the signings of some new players and the return of some old faces.

Fan favourites Jason Bowen and Shane Johnson where quick to sign up for another season and where followed by the youngest player on the Giants roster last season Leigh Jamieson.

New players coming in are Curtis Huppe and Roman Gavalier as well as familiar names with the signings of ex-Panthers forward Marc Levers and Manchester Phoenix captain George Awada.

Just as the fans where trying to catch up with all the signings the Giants announced the return of assistant coach and player Curtis Bowen. The team is now shaping up nicely with 5 defensemen, 5 forwards and a goalie already signed up.

Like last year Curtis Bowen was tempted to sign with the added bonus of having the roll of being assistant coach to Tony Hand. It is hoped the talented goal scorer and crowd favorite, will be back in Belfast by mid August.

“There are two away games before our first home game clash against Cardiff on Saturday 18th September. Curt and Tony will be in Belfast long before that to work on team strategies, fitness regimes, accommodation, travel and with our Equipment Manager, Jason Ellery. Everything is really starting to take shape,” said Giants GM John Elliot.
