On Tuesday night the Giants held their Anual end of season dinner and awards night. It was a buffet meal which was delicious with about 25 tables filled with players and fans. 
The awards ceremony part was announced by none other than reporter Nigel Ringland who did a superb job keeping the crowd entertained with his jokes about the Panthers. He went through each Giants player in the team giving a short mention to some of the things they done throughout the year. Last announced was Dave Whistle who was given a standing ovation by everyone in the crowd for he services to the Giants and was also at the end of the awards presented with a large cake as a gift.

Also at the end a representitive from each table presented a gift to each of the players for their efforts throughout the year from the fans.

Lee Jinman picked up the fans player of the year as a non-Giant though Lee wasnt at the awards but will get his award at the playoffs next weekend. The next two awards went to Paxton Schulte, he picked up the under 16’s player of the season award and the Official Supporters Clubs Favourite player of the year.

It was then over to Coach Whistle to present his MVP of the year and this went to a guy who he said worked hard day in and day out in practice and a guy who would be taking over from him next year, Rob Stewart.

The second to last award of the night was the Players player of the year voted by the players of the Belfast Giants only and it wasnt deservidly so to assistant captain Dave Matsos who said it was a great honor to be given such award that was voted by his team mates.

The final award of the night went to the overall MVP of the season voted by the fans of the Giants and this went to a superb young defencman who has really lit up the league with his scoring of points ability as well as his defensive ability not to mention his rocket shot. It was Robby Sandrock. He collected his award. It was an award he said hes never had in his career and was so happy to get something like this, he kept his speach brief and sounded emotional but happy to get it. Well done Robby Sandrock.

Other awards that where presented on the run up to the end of the season seen Dave Matsos pick up the Kingdomofthegiants.coms’s player of the season and Paxton Schulte pick up the Nixx Giants supporters club’s player of the year.

It was a great evening and the drinking and chatting went on into the night with lots of photo opertunities with the players and coach. Some of the photos will appear on the sites photo section soon.
