Who on earth was that?

Giants 7, Capitals 0

If this is the first game report you have read and you do not know the score from Saturdays game then no, the scoreline is not a joke above.  From what we’ve seen in recent weeks it’s hard to tell who that team was that took to the ice on Saturday night.  They resemble a team we had from the September to Novemeber period of the season.  It was great to see.  The chemestry was there, the moral looked high, confidence was back and there was certainly no sign of dressing room bust up’s that we’ve been hearing from certain quarters.  Curtis Huppe and Mike Minard both out of the side ran the bench and kept the players fired up throughout the night as they dominated a Edinburgh side that have embarrassed the Giants on a few occasions this season.

Ed Courtenay was playing in his third game as player/coach and this was by far his most effective.  He was trying some very tricky cross ice passes that where coming off and linking up really well with Jason Ruff.  It seem’s Ruff has found himself a player to play with that thinks on the same wave-length as everything they tried appeared to come off.  The problem now is what do you do in three games time when Huppe is eligable to come back to play.  Thats Ed’s problem I guess.

J.P. Morin looked back to his best as well picking up three assists in the contest although the official records only credited him with two.  Giants goals came by the way of Ed Courtenay (2), Mark Dutiaume (2), George Awada (2) and Jason Ruff.

It’s a few days off for the Giants before they host the Cardiff Devils on Tuesday night, a re-scueduled game from earlier in February.

Giants-History.com 3 stars:
1st Star: Ed Courtenay
2nd Star: Jason Ruff
