Hutchins haunts old team

December 9th, 2006

Giants 3, Blaze 0

The Giants got the weekend off to the best possible start with a huge win over second place Coventry.  They beat the Blaze 3-0 giving Mike Minard a 27 save shutout with ex-Coventry Blaze forward Jeff Hutchins coming back to haunt his old team with an outstanding hat trick.  It puts the Giants in the driving seat going into tomorrow nights game in Coventry with all the pressure on Coventry to come good and keep the Giants within their sights in the league standings.

The Giants controlled the game from start to finish.  They where rarely tested and had the best of the play.  Jeff Hutchins came up clutch when the Giants really needed to win to put a bigger gap between themselves and their rivals.  His first goal came off a superb fore check by Shawn Skiehar to keep the puck in the Coventry zone.  Hutchins took the loose puck, skated in a riffled a shot into the top corner of the goal.

He made it two zip in the second period with another well worked goal.   J.P. Morin skated the length of the ice before finding Shawn Skiehar with a pass who found Hutchins to make it 2-0.

The third and final goal came in the third period and marked the natural hat trick for Hutchins, when he took the puck into the Coventry zone, skated round the defence and crashed the net scoring what was a great individual goal to complete a great win.
