Ruff takes assists lead, next - goals.

October 16th, 2006

Jason Ruff and Todd Kelman continue to battle it out for the all-time assists lead for the Giants.  Ruff’s second assist of the game on a Jeff Hutchins goal in Saturdays 3-1 win over Hull put the big Canadian forward who recently became the teams all-time points leader on 119 assists compared to Kelmans 118.

It’s a lead that will likely change a few more times in the coming games but eventually Ruffles should pull away with that statistic as the teams leading scorer, although Kelmans point per game average from defence to start this season is extremely impressive.

All then that will stand in the way of Ruff leading all major scoring records for the Giants (goals, assists and points) will be that goal scoring record which he is currently 9 goals shy of tying.  Saying that however he may not even make that milestone if Curits Huppe continues scoring at the rate he does in a Giants jersey.  The sniping left-winger currently sits on 67 goals (17 off the lead) which is 8 behind Ruff.

All-time Leading goal scorers:
Curtis Bowen - 84 (0.38 goals per game)
Colin Ward - 84 (0.36 goals per game)
Paxton Schulte - 81 (0.35 goals per game)
Jason Ruff - 75 (0.51 goals per game)
Curtis Huppe - 67 (0.60 goals per game)
Rod Stevens - 67 (0.38 goals per game)
